On 11 July 2026 (Saturday), RHSTEP Aparajeyo Tarunno Chattogram Center, organized a discussion session to observe World Population Day 2026.

The session focused on the importance of young people as a key force behind national development and highlighted the need to create a safe, healthy, inclusive, and equitable future where every young person has the opportunity to realize their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to society.

The discussion was chaired by Apu Dasgupta, Project Officer of Aparajeyo Tarunno Chattogram, with Youth Officer Anny Chowdhury and Mentor Tofatul Jannat participating in the discussion. At the beginning of the session, Project Officer Apu Dasgupta delivered a PowerPoint presentation highlighting key issues related to World Population Day and youth development.

The speakers emphasized that World Population Day serves as an important reminder that people are the central strength of a country’s development, particularly its young generation. They highlighted the importance of supporting young people’s hopes, aspirations, abilities, and potential through appropriate opportunities and supportive environments.

The discussion placed particular emphasis on ensuring access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services, quality education, gender equality, and meaningful youth participation. The speakers stressed that achieving these goals requires coordinated efforts from government institutions, non-government organizations, communities, and people from all levels of society.

The importance of creating equal opportunities for young people with disabilities was also highlighted. The speakers emphasized that inclusion and equal access are not only essential components of sustainable development but also a shared social and ethical responsibility.

The session concluded with a collective call to build a society where every young person—regardless of gender, ability, or social background—has the opportunity to pursue their dreams, develop their potential, and participate actively in the development of the country.

Through such awareness initiatives, Aparajeyo Tarunno continues to promote youth empowerment, SRHR awareness, equality, inclusion, and meaningful participation in building a healthier and more equitable future.
