On **22 July 2026**, RHSTEP’s **Aparajeyo Tarunno (Unlocking Youth Potential)** project organized a networking meeting in **Barishal** to increase awareness of **adolescent health, reproductive health and rights (SRHR)** and strengthen youth leadership and stakeholder collaboration.
The event began with the national anthem and brought together representatives from government and non-government organizations, teachers, community leaders and adolescents. **Salma Khanam**, Project Officer, Aparajeyo Tarunno, delivered the welcome address, while **Joyhari Biswas**, Youth Officer, presented an overview of the project’s activities and future plans through a PowerPoint presentation.
The meeting was attended by **Dr. S. M. Manzur-E-Elahi**, Civil Surgeon, Barishal; **Mehebuub Morshed Litu**, Deputy Director, District Family Planning Office; **Pronoy Haldar**, Upazila Family Planning Officer; **Dr. Kaniz Fatema**, Resident Surgeon, Gynaecology Department, Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital; and **Prashanta Kumar Biswas**, Upazila Assistant Social Services Officer. Heads of local educational institutions and community leaders were also present and shared valuable guidance and perspectives.
As part of the event, a **short film created by adolescents** was screened, highlighting young people's perspectives and experiences. Youth participants also shared personal stories of positive changes in their lives, demonstrating the potential of young people to contribute meaningfully to their communities when provided with appropriate support and opportunities.
Speakers emphasized that **adolescence is not a period of confusion, but a time of immense potential and opportunity**. They highlighted the importance of accurate information, supportive guidance and coordinated efforts among government and non-government stakeholders to create a healthy, safe and prosperous environment for adolescents.
The event concluded with closing remarks from **Dr. Neelima Das**, Manager of RHSTEP Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital Clinic. The session was moderated by **Md. Siam**, Mentor, Aparajeyo Tarunno.
Through networking and collaborative initiatives such as this, **RHSTEP’s Aparajeyo Tarunno (UYP)** continues to strengthen adolescent health awareness, promote SRHR, foster youth leadership and build stronger partnerships among communities and relevant stakeholders.
