On **23 July 2026**, RHSTEP’s **Alor Dhara Pathshala–Aparajeyo Tarunno Centre in Gaibandha** organized a workshop on **“Filmmaking”** to encourage youth creativity, cultural engagement and the use of creative expression for positive social change.

The workshop was chaired by **Md. Enamul Haque**, Unit Manager, RHSTEP Gaibandha. **Md. Asaduzzaman Sarkar**, District Shilpakala Academy official and filmmaker, attended the event as the Chief Guest. **Promothosh Saha**, former General Secretary of the District Shilpakala Academy, attended as the Special Guest. **Shirin Akter**, General Secretary of the organization ‘Meghdoot’, and **Hosenul Islam**, Music Trainer, were also present as guests.

During the workshop, participants were introduced to the **fundamentals of short film production**, the importance of filmmaking and the potential role of cinema in creating positive social change. The discussions encouraged young people to explore filmmaking as a form of creative expression while using their work to address social issues and communicate meaningful messages.

The guests encouraged participants to embrace their own **culture, heritage and values** through creative activities and use artistic expression as a means of contributing to the positive development of society. They emphasized the importance of nurturing creativity among young people while remaining connected to local cultural identity and traditions.

Following the discussion, a short film titled **“Stop Suicide,”** directed by Chief Guest **Md. Asaduzzaman Sarkar**, was screened for the participants. The film encouraged viewers to reflect on different aspects of real life and conveyed important positive and awareness-building messages about life and the importance of preventing suicide.

In her closing remarks, **Project Officer Mosammat Asfia Khatun** expressed her sincere appreciation to all guests and participants. She encouraged young people to become more actively involved in **cultural activities, creative initiatives and efforts that contribute to positive social change**.

Through initiatives such as this filmmaking workshop, **RHSTEP’s Aparajeyo Tarunno (UYP)** continues to provide young people with opportunities to develop creative skills, explore cultural expression and use their voices to contribute to a more aware and socially responsible community.
