On 25 July 2026, RHSTEP’s Aparajeyo Tarunno (Unlocking Youth Potential) Project organized a school awareness program titled “Breaking Gender Barriers: My Dream, My Rights, Equal Opportunities for Boys and Girls” at the premises of Meherunnesa Girls School and College. The program aimed to promote gender equality and ensure the meaningful participation of young people in eliminating discrimination across all areas of life.
The program began with an engaging opening session and an ice-breaking activity, facilitated by Aktanin Khayer Tanin, Senior Program Officer, RHSTEP’s Aparajeyo Tarunno Project. The interactive beginning helped create an open and participatory environment for the students.
In the following session, Tanjina Sultana, Project Officer, introduced the participating students to relevant articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and encouraged them to understand child rights in relation to everyday situations. At the end of the session, the students participated in an interactive quiz. They were presented with ten different case stories describing various situations and were asked to identify which articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child were relevant to each case based on their own knowledge and understanding.
The final session focused on AI-assisted poster design and awareness creation. Under the guidance of Saima Akter, Graphic Designer, students received hands-on experience in writing effective prompts with the help of artificial intelligence and using those prompts to develop awareness posters on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
Considering the importance of comprehensive sexuality education in educational institutions, students were encouraged to design posters around age-appropriate sexuality education themes. The discussion highlighted the importance of helping children understand safe and unsafe touch at an early age, while adolescents aged 9–16 years were encouraged to proactively learn about the physical and psychological changes associated with adolescence.
The session also introduced students to important elements of effective AI-based poster design, including role, context and style, and explained how these elements can be incorporated into prompts to generate meaningful visual content.
Through this school awareness initiative, RHSTEP’s Aparajeyo Tarunno promoted an interactive learning environment where students could explore gender equality, child rights, SRHR, comprehensive sexuality education and emerging AI-based creative skills. The program encouraged young people to understand their rights, challenge gender-based discrimination and contribute to building a society where everyone can enjoy equal rights and opportunities.
