On 10 August 2026, Aparajeyo Tarunno Barishal Office organized a day-long Inclusion and Gender Equity Workshop under the theme “Diversity is Strength, Inclusion is the Solution.” The workshop aimed to promote awareness of diversity, gender equality, and social inclusion among students and young people from schools and communities.

The program began with a welcome address by Joy Hari Biswas, who greeted the participants and introduced the objectives of the workshop.

The main session was facilitated by Subir Kumar Saha, Child Protection Trainer, Jibon Bari, Barishal. Through an interactive role-play activity involving the students, he highlighted the importance of inclusive attitudes, respect for diversity, and gender equality in everyday life.

Special guests at the workshop included Shahidul Islam Abhi, a newly appointed third-gender representative at Barishal City Corporation, and Nijhum, a representative of the LGBTQ community. Their participation provided participants with an opportunity to learn directly from diverse lived experiences.

During the session, Shahidul Islam Abhi shared personal experiences of facing social and family barriers and described his journey of overcoming challenges and rebuilding his life. His story deeply touched and inspired the participants, creating a meaningful and reflective atmosphere throughout the workshop.

The workshop concluded with an inspiring closing and vote of thanks from Salma Khanam, who highlighted the importance of continued efforts to promote inclusion and equal opportunities for marginalized communities.

Through active participation, role play, personal storytelling, and open discussion, the workshop encouraged young people to develop greater understanding and respect for diversity while strengthening their commitment to a more inclusive, equitable, and accepting society.
