On 11 August 2026, Aparajeyo Tarunno (UYP) Mymensingh Unit organized an awareness program titled “Disability Inclusive Health Initiatives-01” to promote awareness of the health, social, and state rights of persons with disabilities and strengthen their inclusion in healthcare and community life.

The program was attended by Shahanaz Parvin, Assistant Director, Department of Social Services, Mymensingh, and Rafiul Karim, Manager, CRP Mymensingh, as guests. The session was chaired by Resmina Haque, Project Officer, UYP Mymensingh Unit, and facilitated by Md. Ershad Mia, Youth Officer.

The discussion focused on developing positive and respectful attitudes toward persons with disabilities and increasing awareness of their rights to healthcare, education, employment, social security, and other essential services. Speakers emphasized that disability should not limit a person's dignity, rights, or potential, and highlighted the importance of creating supportive and inclusive environments.

Special attention was given to disability-inclusive healthcare, including access to appropriate health services, regular health check-ups, health-related information, and the removal of barriers that may prevent persons with disabilities from receiving necessary care. The importance of making healthcare facilities and services more accessible and responsive to diverse needs was also highlighted.

Speakers further emphasized that ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities is a shared responsibility of families, educational institutions, healthcare providers, local administration, social organizations, and society as a whole. Meaningful participation of persons with disabilities in decision-making processes was also identified as an important component of social inclusion.

In her closing remarks, Resmina Haque highlighted the importance of awareness, empathy, and collective action in ensuring the health and rights of persons with disabilities. She encouraged young people to play an active role in promoting inclusive healthcare and creating a social environment where everyone can enjoy equal dignity, rights, and opportunities.

Throughout the session, Md. Ershad Mia facilitated active participation by engaging participants in discussion and encouraging them to share questions and opinions. Participants explored issues related to disability rights, healthcare access, social inclusion, and collective responsibilities, making the session interactive and participatory.

The program contributed to strengthening participants’ awareness and understanding of disability rights, inclusive healthcare, and social inclusion, while encouraging more positive and responsible attitudes toward persons with disabilities.

The session concluded by emphasizing the shared responsibility of individuals, families, communities, and the state in building an inclusive, equitable, healthy, and dignified society where persons with disabilities can fully exercise their rights and participate in social development.
