RHSTEP’s Aparajeyo Tarunno Dhaka center organized a special workshop titled “From Story to Visual: Introduction to Film Technique & Acting for Theatre” on 16 August 2026, aiming to strengthen adolescents’ awareness of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) through the creative mediums of film and theatre.

The session began with a welcome address by Project Manager Mohammad Abu Raihan, who introduced participants to the role of cinema and theatre in shaping young people’s thoughts, emotions, experiences, and perspectives. The film appreciation session was facilitated by Deputy Project Manager S. M. Kamrul Ahsan Lenin, Senior Program Officer Azharul Haque, and Trainer Ahadul Siraj. Participants were introduced to fundamental aspects of filmmaking, including film language, production stages, shot composition, camera angles, framing, narrative development, and editing techniques.

Alongside filmmaking, participants explored key elements of acting, including character analysis, body language, voice modulation, and improvisation. The acting-focused session was conducted by Project Manager Mohammad Abu Raihan, providing participants with opportunities to develop practical skills and express ideas through performance.

The workshop went beyond technical training in filmmaking and acting. It introduced film and theatre as effective tools for social awareness, communication, and positive change. Participants explored how their personal experiences, emotions, and perspectives could be transformed into creative stories and visual narratives to communicate meaningful messages on reproductive health, rights, and adolescent well-being.

Through this initiative, RHSTEP aims to encourage adolescents to become not only informed recipients of awareness messages, but also creative storytellers, emerging filmmakers, performers, and advocates for positive social change. The initiative reflects the importance of youth-led creative expression in promoting awareness and dialogue around SRHR issues.

Youth mentors, advocates, and interested adolescents from the Mironjhilla and Korail communities participated in the workshop. The program was coordinated and supervised by Project Officer Tanzina Sultana and Communication Officer Suraiya Jannat Sumi.
