RHSTEP’s Aparajeyo Tarunno (UYP), Sylhet organized a day-long training workshop on “Inclusion and Gender Equity” on 17 August 2026 at the Sylhet District Press Club. The training focused on strengthening young people’s understanding of gender, inclusion, equity, equality, and their role in promoting inclusive health and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

The session was facilitated by Mostafa Sajidul Islam, Gender Specialist Trainer and Project Officer, and chaired by Mehedi Hasan, Project Officer, Aparajeyo Tarunno, Sylhet. RHSTEP Sylhet Unit Manager Nihar Ranjan Das, along with mentors, advocates, and 20 young participants, attended the workshop.

Participants explored the differences between sex and gender, as well as the concepts of inclusion, equity, and equality. Interactive sessions on gender stereotypes and Myth vs Fact helped participants identify common misconceptions and understand how gender-based social norms can affect opportunities, behavior, and decision-making.

The training also highlighted youth leadership and participation in health and SRHR. Through group activities, participants identified gender-related challenges and discussed ways young people can contribute to creating more inclusive and equitable health and SRHR environments.

The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ gender sensitivity, leadership skills, and understanding of inclusion and equality, while encouraging meaningful youth participation in health and SRHR-related decision-making.
