RHSTEP’s Aparajeyo Tarunno (UYP), Barishal organized a day-long networking workshop and practical training on short film production, acting, and scriptwriting on 20 August 2026. The initiative aimed to strengthen young people’s creativity, cultural engagement, and practical skills through filmmaking and storytelling.
The workshop was facilitated by Apurba Gomastha, Theatre Director and Instructor at the District Shilpakala Academy, Barishal. Participants learned about the key stages of filmmaking, including pre-production, production, and post-production, along with casting, cinematography, art direction, set and props, costume and makeup, budgeting, and production management.
The practical sessions covered essential filmmaking techniques such as camera angles, framing, close-up, medium, long and extreme close-up shots, POV, over-the-shoulder shots, camera movements, editing, sound design, voice-over, color grading, VFX, titles, posters, and trailers.
Participants also learned how to develop a story into a script and portray characters through acting. They were divided into two groups to develop and perform their own scripts, allowing them to apply their newly acquired filmmaking and storytelling skills in practice.
Salma Khanam, Project Officer, Aparajeyo Tarunno, highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for young people to develop their creativity and skills, noting that their active participation demonstrated the potential of youth to communicate meaningful messages through creative expression.
The workshop provided participants with practical filmmaking experience while encouraging creativity, self-development, teamwork, and youth-led storytelling.
