RHSTEP’s Aparajeyo Tarunno (UYP), Rangpur organized a special “Disability-Inclusive Health Initiative” on 20 August 2026 to promote the health rights, confidence, abilities, and meaningful social participation of young people with disabilities.

Young people with disabilities and their guardians from different schools, colleges, and communities in Rangpur participated in the program. Discussions focused on health rights, SRHR, education, social participation, and economic inclusion, with emphasis on creating opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate meaningfully in society.

Special Guest Mohammad Masud Rana, Disability Affairs Officer, Disability Service and Assistance Center, Rangpur, highlighted the importance of inclusive health services and equal participation. He also discussed different forms of disabilities, including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, physical and intellectual disabilities, and speech and hearing disabilities, along with available support services.

The program was chaired by Animesh Roy, Project Officer, UYP Rangpur, and moderated by Swarnali Acharya, Youth Officer. Dipa Rani, Youth Advocate, discussed youth participation, rights, and inclusion, while Mentor Ruman Sheikh facilitated an interactive session on disability, rights, support needs, and social inclusion.

The initiative emphasized the importance of strengthening self-confidence, identifying individual abilities, and encouraging active participation in future development. It also highlighted the shared responsibility of families, educational institutions, government and non-government organizations, and communities in building a more inclusive society.
