RHSTEP’s Unlocking Youth Potential (UYP) project organized a Health Advocacy Campaign on 22 August 2026 at the Mironjhilla Harijan City Colony, focusing on breast and cervical cancer prevention and early detection. The campaign engaged women, adolescents, and young people from the community to promote health awareness and encourage access to essential healthcare services.

The program began with a welcome address by Aktanin Khayer Tanin, Senior Program Officer, Aparajeyo Tarunno. Facilitators Jahan-e-Gulshan from the Center for Cancer Care Foundation and Najma Sultana Barnali from Dhaka Nursing College led discussions on cancer risk factors, warning signs, prevention, early detection, and available healthcare services.

A Community Health Screening Corner provided blood group testing, blood pressure measurement, diabetes screening, weight measurement, and basic health advice. Participants also received practical guidance on breast cancer screening and information on accessing affordable or free screening and healthcare services.

The campaign also featured a poster design competition encouraging young people to use AI animation and visual storytelling to communicate important health messages creatively. Through health discussions, poster displays, animation, Q&A sessions, health screening, and direct consultation, the initiative promoted community-level health awareness and positive health-seeking behavior.

More than 200 residents of the Mironjhilla Harijan Colony participated in the campaign. Among 25 young participants in the poster competition, five winners were awarded prizes. The campaign was coordinated and supervised by Zubaida Anjum Saba, Project Officer.
