With the slogan “যৌন ও প্রজনন স্বাস্থ্য অধিকার জ্ঞান হোক প্রতিটি শিক্ষার্থীর অধিকার” (Let knowledge of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights be the right of every student), RHSTEP–Aparajeyo Tarunno Chattogram Center organized “School Awareness Program - 01” on 09 May 2026, Saturday at Pahartali Girls’ School & College.

The program was chaired by Project Officer Opu Dasgupta of Aparajeyo Tarunno Chattogram. The discussion session included the presence and valuable speeches of Principal Shah Md. Imran and Youth Officer Anny Chowdhury. The session was moderated by Advocate Shamima Akter Jhuma.

At the beginning of the program, Youth Officer Anny Chowdhury delivered a PowerPoint presentation introducing the key concepts of adolescent health. The presentation helped set the foundation for an in-depth discussion on puberty and related changes.

Speakers highlighted that adolescence is a very important and sensitive phase of human life, during which boys and girls experience significant physical, mental, and social changes. They emphasized that understanding and managing these changes in a healthy way is essential.

It was explained that adolescence is not a problem but a natural growth process, marked by bodily changes such as growth in height, voice changes, hormonal shifts, and emotional fluctuations. Many adolescents may feel confused, shy, or anxious during this time, which is completely normal.

However, the speakers stressed the importance of access to accurate knowledge, safe information, and responsible guidance. They noted that adolescents often hesitate to ask health-related questions due to fear, shame, or misunderstanding, which may lead them to rely on incorrect information or harmful social myths.

The session aimed to ensure that students gain proper understanding of their bodies, seek healthcare when needed, avoid isolation during mental stress, and develop the ability to make safe and informed decisions. The awareness session was designed to make this journey easier and more supportive for them.

After the discussion, a group activity session was conducted with the participation of students to reinforce learning through interactive engagement.

Overall, the program successfully enhanced awareness on adolescent SRHR, encouraged open dialogue, and strengthened students’ understanding of healthy and informed decision-making.
