RHSTEP Aparajeyo Tarunno, Chattogram Center organized an important awareness event titled “Disability-Inclusive Health: A Right for All” on Saturday, 23 May 2026. The program aimed to raise awareness about ensuring equal healthcare rights and access for persons with disabilities, promoting an inclusive and discrimination-free health system.

The event was presided over by Project Officer Apu Dashgupta, while the discussion sessions featured distinguished speakers including Md. Jasim Uddin, Director, Department of Social Services, Chattogram, and Dilshad Akter, Programme Officer, Krishi NGO. The session was moderated by Youth Officer Annie Choudhury.

Speakers emphasized that healthcare is a fundamental human right and no form of discrimination should exist in accessing it. They highlighted the real-life challenges faced by persons with disabilities, including inadequate infrastructure, lack of accessible information, and prevailing social stigma and misconceptions, which often prevent them from receiving necessary services.

The discussion further stressed the importance of building a truly inclusive healthcare system, where healthcare professionals are properly trained and sensitized about disability inclusion. Essential accessibility measures such as ramps, wheelchair-accessible toilets, signage or audio guidance for visually impaired individuals, and information in simple language, Braille, and audio formats were highlighted as necessary steps toward inclusivity.

Participants collectively agreed that improving disability-inclusive healthcare requires joint efforts from families, communities, government bodies, and non-governmental organizations. Strengthening coordination, raising awareness, implementing policies effectively, and utilizing modern technology were identified as key strategies to ensure equal access and dignity for all.

The event concluded with a group activity session involving representatives, encouraging practical engagement and deeper understanding of disability inclusion in healthcare systems.
